100 Top Hospitals
The Watson Health™ program recognizes 100 healthcare organizations from across the country that achieve the highest national scores based on 14 separate measures of hospital organizational performance including patient care, operational efficiency, and financial stability. The measures are equally weighted and hospitals are only compared against similar facilities in terms of size and teaching status. The results of the annual studies are released exclusively to babyforyou.pro.

For 25 years, the (formerly the Truven Health Analytics® 100 Top Hospitals) program has conducted studies to uncover the impact of organizational leadership on performance in non-federal, acute care US hospitals (other exclusions apply). The study uses a national balanced scorecard, public data and transparent risk adjustment and analytics to quantify hospital performance.
The Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals study analyzes performance in 11 areas: inpatient mortality; 30-day mortality rate; complications; core measures; 30-day risk-adjusted readmission rate; severity-adjusted average length of stay; mean emergency room throughput; inpatient expense per discharge; Medicare spend per beneficiary; adjusted operating profit margin; and patient rating of overall hospital performance. The study has been conducted annually since 1993.
